Persona Creation

UX Research: Persona Creation

The creation of personas is one of the most powerful tools for focusing design on the user.

The following user personas were created for a UX Research opportunity to discover if a barrier exists that is keeping the general public from using wearable technology and to also find out what that barrier is if one is present.

User Surveys

In order to create an informed and relevant persona, I first conducted a survey to gain a healthy range and variety of data to draw from. Once the survey was completed (by 41 participants), I looked for trends in the data to provide for me an idea of the user audience I a wearable product would be designed for.

Interviews

Once I identified the possible audience, I interviewed 10 people from the survey. From the notes collected, I created three personas that represent the audience a wearable product could potentially serve based on all of the data collected.

Designing the personas

I designed these portfolios so that they would be printed out and placed at the designer’s workstation. I wanted to be sure that the colors, image, and typography would be able to catch the designers eye so that — in moments where they would need inspiration — they would be reminded of the users that they would be designing for.
